THE MUSE:IRIS APFEL

Forget about getting old... Get with it and create fashion!!!! Our muse may not have the typical beauty..She is not in any way the classic grandma figure and for sure when it comes to fashion and style she also seems to be at another level...

BUT what makes me a huge fan of  her  is the way she loves & enjoys life ..I admire and love her.. She inspired me to take control of my life, to never take no for an answer, and to search for beauty in the most unusual places. ... that come along, because you never know how long you get to enjoy your small infinities.

"If you can't be pretty, you have to learn to make yourself attractive. I found that all the pretty girls I went to high school with came to middle age as frumps, because they just got by with their pretty faces, so they never developed anything. They never learned how to be interesting. But if you are bereft of certain things, you have to make up for them in certain ways. Don't you think?"
Iris Apfel
She may be nearly 90 years old but Iris Apfel hasn’t let her style slow down... She is definitly the godmother of all chunky accessories...She is a style icon with her oversized eye glasses, along with eclectic jewelry and every outfit she wears is showstopper ... This interior designer, textile expert, and White House design consultant is not only a style icon, but she’s original, a free spirit, and now has her own line of MAC cosmetics...
A llot of girls nowadays are blessed with outstanding beauty, good health, fortunate with perfect families but unfortunately they have major self esteem issues.. I feel really bad for them they never enjoy life they spend their lives looking for other people's mistakes &Imperfections ,  just for the sake of judging them thinking that this will make them look & feel better.. they don't have any goals in life &they are so negative.. When has being miserable ever gotten anyone anywhere?!!!??
Iris is a drama free person because she loves her life & she understands clearly what it is to be a happy creature .. She adapts comfortably & perfectly with this, she is not trying to be someone else and for me this is the most important thing,  find your own style, explore the world, dive into happiness & surround yourself with positive things..

"There's a sad lack of glamour in the world today," Apfel told The Guardian last year. "And there's absolutely no fantasy."
“My husband used to say I look at a piece of fabric and listen to the threads. It tells me a story. It sings me a song. I have to get a physical reaction when I buy something. A coup de foudre – a bolt of lightning!”
Iris Apfel
She’s dripping with style! It’s all about fearless confidence and the joy of being free.. There is no greater feeling in life , no greater freedom ,than to know that you can be yourself..

In an interview with Architectural Digest recently, she explained why she likes fake jewellery rather than the real thing... 'My husband, Carl, is a very lucky man,' she said... 'Diamond necklaces don’t appeal to me at all.... I prefer fun jewelry with big stones - so large they would be untouchable if they were real'...
She also talked about how she has always made her own clothes and jewelry... 'I used to take those beige cardboard tubes that are used for masking tape and draw designs on them with black pens and wear them as bracelets. I have a whole collection of those. You can make all kinds of wonderful stuff... All you need is a little imagination... I don’t know what happens to people’s imaginations. We have it when we’re young, but so many lose it when we grow up.'
